Spring Rush 2019!

A new semester means it’s time for one of the fraternity’s most anticipated period, the rush process. This semester’s rush chair, Jared Wiese, had a number of events planned out. Jared is currently a sophomore in Chemical Engineering and the reason he chose to be rush chair was because he wants an executive position in the future. He wanted a position with more responsibility and thought that rush chair was a good first step towards his goal of being Regent or Vice Regent.

Pizza and Chill

The first ever rush event was held on the 1st of February at the house. A total of 20 or more PNMs attended and got to engage with a lot of the current members. They also spent the evening learning a lot more about the fraternity.

Career Fair Prep & Resume Workshop

Seeing that the career fair was coming soon, the Professional Development Chair, Brendan Kielczewski, organized a career fair prep and resume workshop for both PNMs and current members to attend.

A few upperclassmen members volunteered to do presentations about their internship or co-op experiences. They also gave advises, as well as tips and tricks for the career fair. The event was then followed by a resume workshop where the PNMs would be able to ask the members to review their resumes or any extra advice.

Info Session & Food Friday

On February 8th, the members held an info session to brief the PNMs about the rush process as well as the ins-and-outs of the fraternity. After the session, the group walked over to a fellow member’s apartment for Food Friday.

The theme was Breakfast for Dinner, so the members made pancakes and hash browns. Both PNMs and members had a blast during the event whilst getting to know each other better.

Trivia at Sett and Study Tables

On Monday, a few members got together with the PNMs for Trivia Night at the Sett. They were split into two teams and one of them even managed to get third place! It was a good chance for everyone to talk, have fun and have a good laugh.

The final rush event was our weekly Study Tables, organized by our current Academic Chair, Zoha Cochinwala. This event gave the opportunity for PNMs to know more about the fraternity and also gave everybody a chance to study and help each other out with homework.

The applications for PNMs to join Theta Tau are due this week and we cannot wait to see who will be joining the fraternity next.

Jared said that the most enjoyable part of the process was seeing the work that he had done pay off. He said, “It was really great to see the PNMs come to so many events and be so enthusiastic about joining the organization that I love so much.”

Spring Rush’19 was definitely a success so shout out to Jared for all the hard work he has put in!
