Fall 2018 Initiation

This past weekend, thirteen new pledges were initiated into Theta Tau Xi Chapter. The weekend started on Friday evening when the pledges were tested on their knowledge of the history and origins of Theta Tau. The following morning, the pledges became official members during the initiation ceremony. The festivities continued Saturday night at the initiation banquet at Brickhouse BBQ. The new members, or “shinies” and the rest of Xi Chapter enjoyed the great food and great company throughout the night.

Frat Sweetheart

In addition to a wonderful initiation this weekend, we also had a number of awards given out Saturday evening. As a tradition, every semester we award a “Frat Sweetheart” and a “Super Pledge.” Frat Sweetheart is awarded each semester to a person who is considered the frat’s favorite person to have at events despite not being a member. This semester’s Frat Sweetheart was Brennan Bahr, member Brian Newberry’s date for the night.

Most recent super pledges: Sarah Helm (Fall ’17), Jared Wiese (Spring ’18), and Grace Lindsey (Fall ’18)

Super Pledge

Each semester, one pledge is awarded the title of “Super Pledge” for going above and beyond to help the frat succeed. This semester’s Super Pledge is Grace Lindsey for taking on many responsibilities including leading the Pledge Skip Day: Thanksgiving Dinner.

Brother of the Month

Our Public Relations chair Jasmine Shah started a new tradition this semester, Brother of the Month. Each month, the members vote on what brother has worked the hardest and put in the most time and effort into Theta Tau. David Chen was Brother of the Month in September for his countless efforts working with the tenants in the TT house as well as housing corps to try and facilitate issues with the house. Graham Schloesser was Brother of the Month in October for working hard to create decent relationships with the house tenants so we could use the house for events. Sarah Helm was the Brother of the Month in November for always taking photos at all the events, making a beautiful photo book, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Lastly, Ben Reesor was voted Brother of the Semester for his amazing work as Brotherhood chair planning numerous awesome events that gave members the chance to spend extra time together and make some memories.

Overall, this semester has been one for the history books with countless new traditions and unforgettable memories. Thank you all for a wonderful semester, see you in 2019!
