Meet the Pledges

The rush process went so well this year, Theta Tau Xi gained 13 pledges for the spring 2018 pledge class. Now that they are officially pledges in our fraternity, we decided to get to know each pledge and what they have to offer for Theta Tau.

Ben Armstrong

Hometown: DeForest, Wisconsin

Year: Freshman

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Why  your major? “I strive for efficiency, and I want to make our society run even faster and smoother”

Why Theta Tau? “I’m all about networking and meeting people to collaborate with”

Describe yourself in 3 words: motivated, team-player, closer

Other interests: Skiing; “Shredding the gnar and hitting dope plow lines”

Fun Fact: “I dislocated my toe once playing soccer”

Genevieve Capolongo

Hometown: Bedford Hills, New York

Year: Freshman

Major: Computer Science

Why  your major? “I love solving problems and I’m interested in cyber security and hacking”

Why Theta Tau? “To meet people with similar interests as me”

Describe yourself in 3 words: vocal, Italian, foodie

Other interests: Photography and traveling

Fun Fact: “I’m a fraternal twin and I went to circus camp as a kid”

Steven Domiter

Hometown: Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Year: Freshman

Major: Chemical Engineering

Why  your major? “I like chemistry and math, it was an easy pick”

Why Theta Tau? “I wanted to meet people in my field and just see what it’s like to be in such an organization”

Describe yourself in 3 words: easy-going, dependable, spontaneous

Other interests: Snowboarding, sailing, hiking, ultimate Frisbee, kayaking and other such things

Fun Fact: “One time I ate 60 chicken nuggets in one sitting”

Jordan Ingbretson

Hometown: Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

Year: Freshman

Major: Computer Engineering

Why  your major? “I am interested in computers and how they work and I excel in mathematics”

Why Theta Tau? “I wanted to get more involved and I heard a lot of good things about this frat”

Fun Fact: “My little sister is adopted from South Korea”

Yeonseo Jeong

Hometown: South Korea

Year: Freshman

Major: Chemical Engineering

Why  your major? “I may or may not like chemistry. I don’t know yet, so I want to figure that out. Also, I want to do something about vaccines”

Why Theta Tau? “I want to have a good time and meet new people who have similar interests”

Other interests: Taking pictures, vlogs, and playing the guitar

Josh Kelly

Hometown: Somerset, Wisconsin

Year: Freshman

Why  your major? “I like math and problem-solving and EE seemed interesting”

Why Theta Tau? “I heard that the people in it were really nice and fun”

Connor Nelson

Why  your major? “I like chemistry and I’m decent at math”

Why Theta Tau? “Saw club at org fair, thought it sounded like a great way to make connections, get a leadership position, and have some fun along the way”

Fun Fact: “I almost went blind in my left eye when I was three after a sledding accident.”

Aaron Patterson

Hometown: Orono, Minnesota

Year: Freshman

Major: Biomedical Engineering

Why  your major? “I love the combination of math and science”

Why Theta Tau? “I wanted to be a part of an organization that had an equal focus on my major, community service, and also having fun. Theta Tau was that perfect option for me”

Carter Ray

Why  your major? “It’s very interesting to me”

Manuel Jose Vargas

Hometown: Maracay, Aragua Venezuela

Year: Freshman

Major: Chemical Engineering

Why  your major? “I love chemistry and am fairly good in math, but I definitely didn’t want to only do chem. Furthermore, I like the fact that chemical engineers can do a lot of stuff and are not restricted to just one area”

Why Theta Tau? “I wanted to belong to a place I could call a home while I was in Madison, and I thought that a frat was a good idea but I wanted to be around people that were similar to me because I felt that way I could connect more with the frat and all of the brothers”

Fun Fact: “While I was in Cancun 7 years ago attending a soccer tournament, we visited a theme park in which we zip lined over cages of tigers and lions and we also did some swimming in underground caverns”

Why  your major? “This is really cliche, but I’m good at math and chemistry”

Why Theta Tau? “I knew some people in the frat and they said it was a lot of fun and I was looking for opportunities to network with other engineers”

Other interests: “I like to watch and play sports, specifically basketball, but I’m not very good”
