Our brothers got in some last minute bonding time before school started during Theta Tau’s first ever brotherhood retreat. Over the course of four days, eighteen members stayed in a cabin in Random Lake, Wisconsin. Rachel, our Regent, and Will, our Senior Treasurer, planned the retreat, and said that they were inspired to do a retreat because Regionals requires a lock in every semester, and a retreat sounded more fun than a regular lock in.
During the retreat, Professional Development and Brotherhood was a huge focus. Our brothers participated in a Professional Development event that mimicked Shark Tank; this helped everyone practice selling ideas and marketing themselves towards a company. In addition to this event, members got to spend a day by the lake and had a bonfire at night. Lake day was everyone’s favorite event on the trip, and during the bonfire everyone got to share what Theta Tau means to them.
Everyone who went on the retreat got to grow closer together, whether it was through structured events held or just getting to spend quality time together in the cabin. Our brothers cooked and ate meals together, and really enjoyed getting to spend their days with each other. A huge takeaway from the retreat was how important brotherhood events are, and that just getting to spend time together is meaningful. Going forward, Rachel wants to emphasize brotherhood in the chapter due to how impactful the retreat was. Hopefully the retreat can become a tradition within Xi Chapter, and someone can carry on what Rachel and Will started!
