It is that time of the semester again where Theta Tau elects a new regent to lead the fraternity. It has been a long winter break and the brothers are excited to begin the new semester with our new regent, Laura Yurik. Laura is a senior from Woodbury, Minnesota majoring in Chemical Engineering with a Business certificate.
Why Theta Tau
When asked about why she joined Theta Tau, Laura said, “I joined the fraternity because of the people I met during the rush events and the environment there.”
She also said, “I love Theta Tau because it mixes professional development on a collaborative level with friendships and fun events.”
Ever since being a part of Theta Tau, Laura has held positions as Marshal, Fundraising Chair and Vice Regent.
Laura as Regent…
After being the Vice Regent in Fall 2018, Laura decided to take on the responsibilities as the Regent this upcoming semester. She said, “I enjoyed being involved in the direction of the fraternity as Vice Regent, and wanted to continue to be involved on a high level.”
Laura’s goal for this upcoming semester is to continue to improve our amount of professional events, while also branching out with different types of social events that we haven’t done before.
Laura already has many good ideas to make the upcoming semester successful. She plans on doing so by working with the chairs to keep event planning high, having older members share expertise on professional development with younger members, communicate with Madison companies for speakers and tours and setting up events with other organizations on campus.
We are very excited to see what the new semester brings with our new regent and we wish Laura all the best. Good luck Laura!
