It’s been a long winter break, but Theta Tau Xi chapter is excited to start the new semester with our new regent Sara Martin! Sara Martin is a junior in biomedical engineering from Brookefield, WI. She joined Theta Tau because she felt at home and welcomed there. She says, “My first interaction with members was at the Spring Org Fair and I circled the place twice before I worked up the nerve to talk to the Theta Tau table.” A member, Josh McGrath, noticed Sara awkwardly staring at the table and called her over realizing she was nervous and scared to go up to the table. “He and the other members at the table made me feel wanted and excited to join the fraternity. After my first Food Friday, I knew this was where I belonged on campus. All of the members were friendly and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me. Since then, it’s been two years of learning and laughter.”
After joining Theta Tau, Sara organized weekly study tables as Academic Chair, planned events for members to give back to the community as Community Service Chair, and hosted events as Brotherhood Chair for TT members to spend time with one another and have fun.
Her Goals
Sara says that our goals for the fraternity this semester are to work on more Professional Development. The Professional Development chairs for this semester are Nick Lawrence and Sean Springer. Sara says, “Both of them know a lot about PD and have some really big plans for our chapter in that regard. I’m excited to see what they do and hope we can get more members with internships/co-ops/jobs this year!”
Sara also plans to make this semester more fun for its members. “We are going to focus efforts on hosting more events for the fraternity which will give members more opportunities to be involved. This goes hand in hand with bringing back the fun as a lot of our events are going to be focused on just having fun. Frances [Palmer, VR] and I feel that is what the fraternity needs and are going to do our best to make this happen!” We are very excited to see what Sara accomplishes this semester and we know that she will do remarkable things! Good luck Sara!
